This is Banned Book Week. I know we’re on the downward swing of the week, (and despite best intentions, I’ve not had time to reread one from this list) but here are some of my favorites:
His Dark Materials (series), by Philip Pullman. It questions God! Not that!
The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison. Too sexy. Huh?
Snow Falling on Cedars, by David Guterson. Profanity and sexual content. Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. too much sex. or not racially diverse.
Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. Offensive language and content. oh the irony.
The Handmaid’s Tale, by Margaret Atwood. Offensive to Christians. and sex.
A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeline L’Engle. Challenges religious beliefs. Yoikes!
